Need Viruses!!

OK, so I know this sounds wierd but where can I find viruses. I want to load up a pen drive with a bunch of viruses so I can experiment with a PC that I'm building.

Any Ideas?

Re: Need Viruses!!

Ask one of the antivirus review sites and make sure you keep your nose clean.

Go to your bad part of town and hook up with any stranger there. I'm sure you'll get some viruses onto your pen-drive.

Re: Need Viruses!!

Ha ha.

I realize that this is a very weird request but I assure you that it is for good use.

Fact is I sell, PC's and viruses are usually the biggest problem. So I wanted to devote a system to viruses the best ways to remove them and not get them in the first place.

I've been looking but I haven't found anything cool yet.

Re: Need Viruses!!

I have one idea..download a bunch of keygens/cracks from a torrent site like thepiratebay and you are bound to find a virus or something similar.

There are 'keygen collections' or 'cracks collections' and you can find all kinds of viruses.

Good luck

Re: Need Viruses!!

This request worries me now. It sounds like you may be trying to keep your clientele through potentially dishonest ways...

You've got your resources, man, contact one of the places that does virus testing. You're asking for what amounts to enriched uranium and should be aware that you are liable if the viruses get out of control - and I mean felony liable.

I'm way overstepping my authority here, but you really need to let this thread die before hammers get dropped.

Re: Need Viruses!!

Windrunner, I really think you're blowing things waaay out of proportion.

'Keeping my clientele through dishonest ways' ? I'm not even sure how to respond to that. My goal as stated before is to make sure my clients are not troubled by viruses, malware and adware.

For me to understand how to fully tackle these issues I have to replicate conditions. I'm sure you would agree that simply running an anti-virus scan is rarely the solution.

And enriched uranium ... really? haha.

That being said maybe I do want to take over the world with my newly constructed super virus...

Re: Need Viruses!!

I agree with Windrunner in that it's a worrying request, but I don't think it sounds like you trying to use subversive tactics to keep business. The problem is that anyone can make any claim about their intentions, but how are we to know the facts? It's not my call, but I have reported this thread.

Re: Need Viruses!!

I tried to keep it as indirectly implied as possible, but it's a possibility. It seriously is like asking for the digital equivalent of a WMD ( HI NSA GUYS! ).

I've got the only answers you'll find from your research here, with my source and empirical data being from these forums:

The way you keep people from getting virused is teaching them to keep firefox or chrome updated with adblock plus installed, and to keep flash updated. You then make certain they are running a strong antivirus program such as avira, and having daily scans done with it.

You then emphasize that they do NOT use peer to peer programs to download copyrighted content, do NOT use websites to download copyrighted content, and do NOT click on links they were not explicitly expecting in e-mails or social networking sites, and that if they are in doubt, ask if the friend meant to send the link.

There, 99% of viruses are stopped in this way, in fact teaching them not to download crap and click random links stops 95% of them. The remainder includes major internet worms.

For the major dunderheads, put them on user level accounts and have them log into administrator only when they absolutely have to.

The people who don't follow this advice are your repeat customers.

You do not need viruses/worms/trojans to test this.

Thing is, you post as if you don't know anything about what you're doing.

You know what they say, "If you ask how much a Rolls Royce is, you can't afford it." So, asking where you can just 'download' them is the same way, but they really don't exist, and the ones that do, are just baits that end up hijacking your system unless you know what you're doing....

It explains all of the responses you're getting.

Re: Need Viruses!!

Why dont you jus do what everyone else does and go to a virus review site. The easiest and cheapest solution to your problem with the less hassle. Your better going to be able to get ideas from people that deal with these things regularly and an anti virus review website is the best place to look. Just write to one of the websites and ask if you can borrow some of there data etc and ask them questions relevant to your situation.

Re: Need Viruses!!

I'm really not sure what kind of research a tech support guy can do on these viruses that people paid six digits a year haven't already done and published for free.

If you're in college, check to see if you have access to ebsco. Otherwise use google scholar. There's your hard research right there.

Otherwise, if you want to get a lot of viruses really quickly, licking a hand rail in a subway train works well.

LOL. There is nothing indirect nor implied in the first statement.

This, I do agree with completely. There is no need to pursue this thread further...
